BIOGRAPHY
Nils Björquist
Nils graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media Technologies, with a television and video concentration, from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in May 2021. He has always been interested in digital production and his education helped him further develop his video production skills. Nils have been especially interested in post-production and visual effects which he has become very proficient in. In May 2023, Nils Graduated from ESU with a Master's Degree in Management & Leadership. During his two years in graduate school, Nils served as the graduate assistant and intern for the Athletics Communications Office at ESU where his main resposibility was to produce the live broadcasts for all of the Warrior's home events. He also produced content for the Warrior's social media such as promotional videos, highlights, and player/coaches interviews. Nils is also a proficient sound designer and music producer, as he has produced music for several indie artists as well as released his own electronic music, achieving a million streams worldwide across all streaming platforms.
CREATIVITY STATEMENT
I have always been fascinated by the magic of cinema. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to make my own fantasies come to life in a moving picture. Visual effects and video editing are a means to express my creativity and make visualize my fantasies by creating visual elements that cannot simply be caught through a camera lens. By utilizing digital tools and software I am able to add my personal touch to recorded film or create stunning moving visual effects from scratch.
My goal for every project I take on, is that the people I show the final result will say: “Wow, I wonder how he did that”. I always start with a vision, whether it is my own vision for a personal project, or someone else’s vision for whom I am creating the visual effects. Based on that vision I can create effects that fulfill that vision. I always strive for perfection in every project I take on, and I will not consider it done until I am completely satisfied with the result. My favorite tool is Adobe After Effects, where I do all my compositing. I like the endless possibilities that After Effects offers. I prefer to use Blender 3D when I create 3D models from scratch because of its powerful sculpting tools. For 3D animation, I prefer to use Cinema 4D. To edit all my composites together to render a final project, I prefer Premier Pro. I am never hesitant to try new techniques to achieve a certain result, and it is by trying new things I develop as a VFX artist.
My current work is far more advanced that my work a few years ago. I learn new techniques and workflows all the time, and I always try to push my limits. I am always working on small individual projects to try out new ideas. I am also working on short films with my friends which helps me develop my skills.
